How to create a user?

  •  To create a user, please login to your admin account, go to settings > Users & Companies menu and click on Users.


  •  Once the user menu is opened, please click on “New” button to create a new user.


  • After that the user creation screen will appear.


  •  Name: 

​The full name of the user being created. This will appear throughout the system wherever the user’s activities are recorded or referenced.

  •  Email: 

​The user's email address. This will be used for login, notifications, and system alerts.

Access Right

  •  Allowed Companies: 

​Specifies the companies that this user is authorized to access, useful in a multi-company setup. The user will be able to switch between these companies.

  •  Default Company: 

​The primary company that will be selected when the user logs in. In a multi-company environment, this sets the default company for the user during login.

User type

  •  Internal User: 

​A user who can log in to the Odoo backend (ERP) and access the modules and features that have been specifically assigned to them. These are typically employees or internal team members who manage business operations.

  •  Portal user: 

​These are external users, such as vendors, customers or clients, who are granted restricted access to the Odoo system. Portal users can view documents, invoices, orders, or other relevant information, but their access is limited to what is shared with them.

  •  Public: 

​Public user refers to a user who is not logged in but can still access certain areas of the website. The access rights for public users are limited to ensure security and control.

Administrator

  •  Blank: 

​If no access right is assigned, the user cannot interact with the module at all. This is effectively "no access."

  •  User: 

​The user can interact with the module, but their access is limited to standard operations. They can use the system features but cannot configure or change the underlying settings.

  •  Administrator: 

​The user has full control over the module, including the ability to modify settings, configure workflows, and manage user access.
